Production
The production of embossed holograms is a complex process that occurs in several production steps. The master holograms are recorded with Laser light in special optics laboratories. They are produced on the basis of three-dimensional graphic models or graphic templates. Copying master holograms to special photo-resist recording plates transfers the holographic information to a micro surface relief. The fragile surface relief, is first transferred to solid nickel-shims via electroforming process, and then the nickel-shims are matrices for the holographic embossing machines.
By means of heat and pressure different foil types can be embossed, especially for producing pressure sensitive adhesive holograms or hot stamping holograms. Hologram production requires special know-how and ideal technical conditions on a large scale, such as high quality lasers, precision optics, special environmental conditions, electroforming department, embossing machine and special embossing materials. There are only very few holographic laboratories world-wide which offer this state-of-the-art equipment together with holographic specialists know-how.
