Packaging ordinance

In this chapter you will find an overview of the most important information and links to the 5th amendment to the packaging ordinance.

With the 5th amendment to the packaging ordinance some significant changes for companies have gone into force. We have compiled the most important points at a glance for you:

• Entry came into force on April 1, 2009.
• This affects all companies producing in Germany or that import to Germany.
• The goal is to reduce the waste volume and to increase the rate of reusable packaging.
• If the products are for end consumers, or the so-called equivalent, it has to be connected to a processing cycle. They are obliged to require evidence of participation in relevant dual systems.
